Author’s Note

I was spending time worshipping and reading my Bible at the break of dawn sometime in August 2017, precisely the 14th, when these two words found me.

I began to read about the Parables of the Farmer Scattering Seed and the interpretation of that parable in Matthew 13 (NLT). As I read verses 20-21, I saw that “the seed on the rocky soil represents those who hear the message and immediately receive it with joy. 21.But since they don’t have deep roots, they don’t last long. They fall away as soon as they have problems or are persecuted for believing God’s Word.” And it hit me right there; I had a nudge in my spirit as my eyes fell back on those two words: deep roots. The Spirit of God then made me understand the purpose of this devotional. It is to guide you into deep roots – an established, unshakeable relationship with your Creator – your father, mother, brother, sister and friend, Jesus Christ.

While we are all growing into greater knowledge and experience of Christ and of salvation, the Deep Roots devotional is only one of the many “needfuls” that you can take with you on your journey. It is my joy and an even greater joy for the kingdom of Heaven to see you firmly rooted and planted in God.

And if you are about to read this devotional without being saved, or certain of your salvation, then I would like you to pray the following words with every sincerity and surrender of heart:

Dear God, I come to you right now with every sincerity and surrender of heart. I accept that I am a sinner, but much more, I accept your love and I choose to believe what Jesus Christ has done on the cross, just for me. I confess my belief in the power of the gospel that is able to wipe away my sins, to make me white as snow and to make me right with God.

Thank you for the gift of salvation and the gift of the Holy Spirit. Thank you Lord Jesus for the grace to begin this journey with you as my friend, companion, personal Lord and Saviour. Amen.

Congrats and welcome to the family of Christ!

With Overflowing Love,

Alexandra Zion.
