Being a Light in the Darkness

Being saved in an unsaved world
Is a possible world
All on its own

Today’s Scripture: Philippians 2:12-15

Being a world celebrity or a local champion is not reason enough to wonder if our lives make a difference to the people around us. The main reason we should realise that our life makes a difference to the world around us is found in Philippians 2:14-15.

The Amplified Version says,

“Do all things without grumbling and faultfinding and complaining [against God] and questioning and doubting [among yourselves], that you may show yourselves to be blameless and guileless, innocent and uncontaminated, children of God without blemish (faultless, unrebukable) in the midst of a crooked and wicked generation [spiritually perverted and perverse], among whom you are seen as bright lights (stars or beacons shning out clearly) in the dark world,”

PHILIPPIANS 2:14-15

Now that may be too long an interpretation, but what that version has done is to break down each part of the verse for us to understand that your life and my life make a huge difference!

The lie which we have heard over and again is to strive for popularity and not for influence. But guess what? The one person whose life becomes better because of you is a great milestone for you. Our lives as Christians should shine brightly against the darkness of the world. It should be our love against the world’s hate, our integrity against the world’s dishonesty. Because guess what? Hate cannot cure hate. Only love can.

You matter. Your every step matters. Your words matter. Your actions matter. You have destinies tied to yours. You are a solution to the world –a true light in thick darkness. Shine.

Prayer Point: God, I realise that I am a light in this dark world. Help me make a difference and let my light shine before men, so that they may glorify you in Jesus name. Amen.
