You who live by your own light
And warm yourselves by your own fires.
Today’s Scripture: Isaiah 50:4-11
Sometimes it is easy to get carried away with ourselves and the world around us. In the above Bible verses, we are let in on the world of God’s servant. We already have heard that every child of God, that is, everyone who believes in the gospel is a servant of God, and I agree without any iota of doubt. I particularly like verse 7; it talks about how God will never allow you to be disgraced.
Are you afraid to do God’s will, for fear of being ridiculed in a world that is slowly losing its sanity? Being afraid may be normal but permitting that fear to choose for you or to determine your steps is unacceptable. Like the obedient servant in verse 7, will you set your face like a stone, determined to do His will, knowing that you will not be put to shame? Will you trust and rely on your God even if you are walking in darkness, without a ray of light?
Yes? Awesome! See that warning in verse 11? Do not live by your own light. Do not warm yourself by your own fires.
Prayer Point: Father, help me not to get carried away with the things of the world, so much that I begin to live on my own terms. Help me to never lose sight of your presence, rather help me to trust in and rely on you every day of my life in Jesus’ name. Amen.
