“Increase our faith”
“No. Speak to your mountain.”
Today’s Scripture: Luke 17:5-6
The disciples were with Christ in this chapter of Luke, and he was speaking to them about forgiveness. I guess by the standards Jesus was laying down in verses 1-4, they must have realized that it must take great faith on their part to live by such standards. So, they said in verse 5, “Lord, increase our faith.” Jesus’s response stuns me; he says,
“if ye had faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye might say unto this sycamine tree, Be thou plucked up by the root, and be thou planted in the sea; and it should obey you.”
Jesus indirectly explained that it was not up to him to increase their faith, but that if they were willing to believe even in the tiniest bit, then they will see results. The same applies to me and you – God has already made provision for many things which we are seeking after. All that is needed therefore is for you and me to hold on trusting no matter how “small” we think our faith is. It only takes faith as tiny as a mustard seed to uproot an entire tree by the words of your mouth.
Action Point: Speak to every tree that needs to be uprooted with faith in your heart and wait for it to happen.
