I already know who you are
And I love you that way.
- Be Still, Travis Greene
Today’s Scripture: Ephesians 1: 1-14
God has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing. Why? Because we are united with Christ.Being saved and united with Christ is honestly the best gift you could ever receive and if you are reading this devotional, I assume that you are saved, so congratulations on your gift! If you are not, your an pray a simple yet powerful prayer here.
In verse 4 of today’s scripture, the Bible says, “even before He made the world, God loved us and chose us in Christ to be holy and without fault in His eyes.” Isn’t that profound?! Think about the world before it was made, can you imagine that anyone would have thought of you at the time? Maybe you really cannot picture it, but before the foundations of the world were laid, God actually chose you for Himself. Hallelujah!
And can you ask yourself why He did this wonderful thing? So you might be holy – the Amplified version says, “consecrated and set apart for him”, and without fault in His eyes. O what a wonderful privilege to be without fault in the eyes of the only faultless being! That, my friend, is all that truly matters. One of my best songs is Travis Greene’s Be Still. He sings of how we are all going somewhere, chasing ambitions and trying to make it, trying to “be the next star when it is the attention that [we] really want“, and of how God is saying, “I already know who you are and I love you that way”. Yes, this is the God who has liberally poured out His grace on us all.
One more thing, have you ever asked yourself if all of these promises are true? Look at verse 14, the Holy Spirit is that guarantee of our inheritance – the down payment on our heritage! The Spirit of God inside of you? Yes, that’s proof. Shout Hallelujah!
Action point: Think about your salvation journey and meditate on what you have just read, then give God sincere thanks for coming through for you and sealing His promised inheritance with His own Spirit.
