It’s in the undeserving love,
It’s in the undeniable peace,
I can’t forget the unspeakable joy,
It’s in the way you make me feel.
A special typa way,
That sends warmth down my spines.
A sugary typa way,
That makes me question again,
“Who am I to deserve all that you are?”
Today’s Scripture: Hebrews 4: 1-11
Do you ever wonder what exactly you have done to qualify for such love? Sometimes, we meet people who look just like us on the outside, and we describe them as “heaven sent“. Sometimes, we even wonder if we are “worthy” of the lovely hearts which these kind of people have. Have you ever met someone like that? How much more the love and kindness of the Father, the Creator of the Universe! Hebrews 4 talks about a promised rest for the people of God: the special kind of rest which is for only those who believe in God. You guessed it – the rest in heaven.
When you read through from verses 1 to 11, God has set a time for entering into his rest. He says, “Today, when you hear his voice, don’t harden your hearts”. Opening our hearts to the voice of the gospel is what qualifies us for this rest. Do you believe in God? In Jesus, the Son of God? Then Congratulations! This chapter urges us not to disobey God, not to harden our hearts either, but to remain faithful till the last day.
So this is simply a call to reality to never forget where we are headed…whether at the beginning of the year or at the very end. Contrary to uncensored opinions, Heaven is actually real.
Action Point: Take a walk down gratitude lane and be thankful for God’s undeserving love.
