Our God is a consuming fire.
Today’s Scripture: Hebrews 12
Today, we are looking at the verses in this chapter of Hebrews. When you read these verses, you realize in verses 12 and 13 that our own actions have an effect on that of others. It says, “…Mark out a straight path for your feet so that those who are weak and lame will not fall but become strong.” This means that we should live our lives in such an amazing way, so that those who are halting between serving God or mammon, or those who are at the edge of losing their faith will not fall but will become strong. This could also mean that we should mark out a straight path so that even our own weak and tired knees will become strong (see also Isaiah 35:3). The Bible goes on to tell us to avoid bitterness and strife, to rather make peace with everyone, and to look out for one another in the body of Christ.
In addition, we are told to listen to God – the one whom we have come to meet with in Mount Zion, to not be like the Israelites who turned deaf ears, but to pay attention to the ruler of the unshakable kingdom.
Lastly, we are told that our God is a consuming, devouring fire! This means that God is fire, His Word is fire, and His Presence in you is fire unto the enemy, and fire to forge ahead in life.
Confession: My God is a consuming fire.
