Those who live in the shelter of the Most High
will find rest in the shadow of the Almighty.
This I declare about the Lord:
He alone is my refuge, my place of safety;
he is my God, and I trust him.
Today’s Scripture: Psalm 91
The ways in which the stories in the Bible connect to one another tell us many things about God’s intentionality. At creation, for instance, God begins by speaking everything into being, including you and I. He also desires for man to worship him, and fellowship with Him. However, Eve takes matters into her own hands, and she converses with the devil. Did you see that? The first sign of danger is having a discussion with the devil. So, whose words will you listen to in 2019?
In yesterdays’s entry, we talked about divine direction. Sometimes, direction could also come in voices, but whose voice will you listen to? We have a safe place, and His name is Jesus. He is the present help in the time of trouble, and on the last day, he is our seal of safety (Psalm 2:12). However, how can you recognize God’s voice? One of the ways is to note that God’s instructions are peaceable. God does not shove or force us, nor manipulate us. He prompts us, suggests His will to us, and waits for us to choose.
We can define his safe place in many different ways. Today, you can understand it as the place of His leading and of His promises to you. Will you stay in His safe place?
Prayer Point: Father, I recognize now more than ever that you are my safety and my refuge. Many things are unknown and uncertain to me, but I know just enough to confess you as my very present help in the time of trouble. Tune my ears and heart to the sound of your Will for my life all through this year and beyond in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
