But those who set their gaze deeply
into the perfecting law of liberty
are fascinated by
and respond to
the truth they hear
and are strengthened by it
they experience God’s blessing
in all that they do!
(James 1:25 TPT)
Today's Scripture: James 1:25
Everyone wants to be “free” – free to do what they “want” to do, free to be who they “want” to be, and free to be “free.” The one who is guilty of a crime as charged also wants to be free. So, freedom is always one of humankind’s deepest desires.
However, the Bible tells us that there is a perfect law of liberty – there is something we need to follow in order to have the freedom that is worth everything it costs. That perfect law is the Word of God.
In the NLT version of today’s scripture, we are told that “if you look carefully into the perfect law that sets you free, and if you do what it says and don’t forget what you heard, then God will bless you for doing it”. How amazing!
Many laws (either the ones we make or the ones others make for us) might set us free, or to be more precise, give us a sense of freedom, but the law of God’s Word is the only law which actually sets us free and free indeed. In what ways does the Word set us free? Among many others, we have been set free to tell others of this gospel of freedom too. (We would look at a few more ways tomorrow).
Welcome to the month of MAY! May all that God has purposed for you in this month find fulfillment, and may all your blessings be delivered to you in Jesus name.
Action Point: Give thanks for the privilege to see a new month. Commit the month to the Lord with specific prayers. Thank God for the perfect law of liberty available to you and ask Him to help you walk in accordance to these laws.
