To sit at your feet
To hear you speak
It’s all I’ll ever need.
Today’s Scripture: 2 Timothy 3:16-17, Psalm 63
One of the ways to grow in intimacy with God is by studying His Word. In 2 Timothy 3:16-17, the Word of God is described as God-inspired and God-breathed. It is available for instruction, correction, and discipline; it is available to teach us what is true, and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. The catch is in verse 17. We learn in this verse that all of the things done in verse 16 are for a purpose. They are done so that the people of God may be complete and proficient, well fitted and thoroughly equipped for every good work (Amplified Version). Isn’t that amazing! When we submit ourselves to the reading and studying of God’s Word, we are equipped to do EVERY good work.
So, more than growing in sweet intimacy with our Father, we are also fortified with all that we need to show ourselves as children of Light.
So, how can you study God’s Word efficiently?
There are a few ways to study your Bible like I mentioned in this post. You can decide to do a Book by Book study. This works by studying one book of the Bible every month. E.g. The book of John in the month of March or the book of Galatians in April, etc.
Another option is to use the One Year Bible Reading Plan that is usually found in the front pages of most Bibles.
If you are social media “savvy”, you can follow Christian blogs, subscribe to newsletters, and follow certain individuals who constantly post Christ-filled content. This way, you can have God’s Word before your eyes everywhere you find yourself.
Having friends or partners that you are accountable to would also be a plus. This way, you can check on each other to ensure you are studying God’s Word.
Any of these conscious steps will help you to grow in intimacy with God via His Word.
Action Point: Choose at least one of these steps today to help you grow in intimacy with God, through the study of His Word, and ask for the help of the Holy Spirit to help you stay focused.
