There is a “Beyond Now”

It is never just for today.
Today’s Scripture: Jeremiah 17:11, Proverbs 13:11

I grew up knowing that if it does not come through crystal clear means, it will not last. As the years go by, you would realize that more and more people seem to be joining the bandwagon of those who are willing to become rich by whatever means. Sometimes I think, do they not also read or listen to the stories of some of these people – how they lost everything at some point? Then I realized, of course they do!

But we live in a world where only a few people are truly aware of the fact that there is a beyond now. I heard that statement for the first time in my first year in the university. The chaplain stood on the pulpit and screamed, “100 Level students! There is a beyond now!” It sunk and stuck with me ever since. Till today, when I am about to make a decision, I like to place it under the mirror of those words and I ask myself, Is it worth it?,

The above Bible verse in Jeremiah says, “Like a partridge that hatches eggs she has not laid, so are those who get their wealth by unjust means. At midlife they will lose their riches; in the end, they will become poor old fools.” How pathetic. Just as I have, you might have seen this in reality. It actually happens, and it is always a sad story to look at. In Proverbs however, we understand that wealth from hard work grows over time, and it is the blessing of the Lord that makes rich and add no sorrow. Wonderful, right?

Place your decisions under the mirror of God’s Word because an understanding of a life beyond today, beyond this moment, beyond this entire life on earth is enough understanding to keep you in check all of the time.

Do not be deceived by people who say, “It’s just for today”, “Let’s just do it once”. It is never just for today. It does not just happen once and even if it does, once leaves a mark on a lifetime.

Be alert and be wise.

Action Point: Examine. Place all of your decisions under the mirror of “beyond now”. If it is not worth it, you know what to do.
