Love is a person and his name is God
Today's Scripture: John 15:13
I was in an Uber, and the radio was playing. It was a song about love and although, I cannot remember what the exact lyrics said, I remember the message of the artist being that we should settle for love even if its sour. When I heard that, I remember thinking to myself, “If I had to settle for love in this manner, my life would be totally miserable.”
No doubt, the world has given different definitions to love, and we forget the One who “invented” love. Today’s verse tells us how amazing that love could be in a few words; it says,
“There is no greater love than to lay down one’s life for one’s friends” (NLT).
This verse speaks to me every time, and in each of those times, it leaves me with the question, “How much of love do I have in me?” Each time, I get the answer, “All of it” because as a believer, Christ lives in you!
The real question then is, “How much of that love do I give?” This is where “me firsts”, “I, I, I”, “ifs and buts”, etc. come in. This is where we continually pray for grace to love just like Jesus. He has unreservedly placed His love on the inside of us, so we should also unreservedly give it out. John 17:26 says,
“I have revealed to them who you are and I will continue to make you even more real to them, so that they may experience the same endless love that you have for me, for your love will now live in them, even as I live in them.”
Prayer Point: Thank you Jesus for your love that lives in me. Help me to not just experience this love, but to extend it to all I come across today in Jesus name. Amen.
