What does the Bible say about Immorality?

Why spill the water of your springs
In the streets
Having sex with just anyone?
Today’s Scripture: Proverbs 5 -7

Proverbs 5:15-16 NLT says, “Drink water from your own well – share your love only with your wife. Why spill the water of your springs in the streets, having sex with just anyone?”

Everything is fast becoming the norm in the world we live in, and this is an absolutely wrong thing. Running after anything in a skirt, sleeping with anything with a beard is not God’s will for you.

Your peers might call it old school. You might think, “But everyone else is doing it, why not me?” The actual truth is that everyone else is not doing it. It is just you. It is easy to be blinded and to do whatever we think is right, but the Bible says, the way that seems right to a man is the way of death. Like Paul in I Corinthians 6:12-20, we should be able to boldly declare,

12 You say, “I am allowed to do anything”—but not everything is good for you. And even though “I am allowed to do anything,” I must not become a slave to anything.

13 You say, “Food was made for the stomach, and the stomach for food.” (This is true, though someday God will do away with both of them.) But you can’t say that our bodies were made for sexual immorality. They were made for the Lord, and the Lord cares about our bodies.

14 And God will raise us from the dead by his power, just as he raised our Lord from the dead.

15 Don’t you realize that your bodies are actually parts of Christ? Should a man take his body, which is part of Christ, and join it to a prostitute? Never!

16 And don’t you realize that if a man joins himself to a prostitute, he becomes one body with her? For the Scriptures say “The two are united into one]

17 But the person who is joined to the Lord is one spirit with him.

18 Run from sexual sin! No other sin so clearly affects the body as this one does. For sexual immorality is a sin against your own body.

19 Don’t you realize that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, who lives in you and was given to you by God? You do not belong to yourself,

20 for God bought you with a high price. So you must honor God with your body.”

1 Corinthians 6:12-20 (NLT)

The government may support sexual immorality. It may be lawful, but it is not expedient. It is not beneficial. It is not God’s will for you. Sex outside marriage will continue to be wrong, whether the 21st or 25th century accepts it or not. We have every right to live in the realities of what we believe in, and to stand for it too. Do not be deceived. Truth is truth; truth is timeless.

If you are reading this, and you have had sex before marriage, all hope is not lost. Now that you know, go for God and stay there. Do not wish it away, or pretend it doesn’t exist. Instead, speak with Him and watch Him shower you with his love. You may not be a harlot, but remember Rahab? (Joshua 2). She is still recognized today as a major part of the lineage of Jesus.

Action Point: Ask God for grace to live a true Christian life no matter where you find yourself and determine to always stand for the gospel which you have believed and received.

Prayer: Right now, receive grace and strength to overcome every addiction to sexual immorality in Jesus name.
